January 2005

Do I have a work / faith balance?

What does it mean to be a Christian in the workplace?

Does my faith inform my work and my work inform my faith?

If you are interested in questions such as these you are invited to come and discuss these issues
on the first Tuesday of every month during 2005 starting on

Tuesday 4th January
Epiphany House, Truro
5.30 – 7.30pm
(refreshments provided)

Each month we shall discuss an issue related to our faith and the work we do. At our first meeting we shall explore the parameters of our discussions using the four-fold framework of Scripture, Tradition, Reason and Experience to reflect on our Christian lives in the workplace and church. To this framework we shall try to discern some Spiritual Sense giving us some sort of grasp on

  • S cripture

  • T radition

  • R eason

  • E xperience

  • S piritual

in the workplace!

“If we are to meet the needs of society, and move from maintenance to mission, we need to focus less on the structures of the church...to recognise, equip and authorise greater varieties of ministry in the church. Secular ministers, lay and ordained, are called to their tasks through the experience of living the Christian life in the secular sphere.”

The Rt. Rev. Colin Bennetts

As employees and employers in a workplace, or in any other occupation, the work we do, the situations we are in, the people amongst whom we work and for whom we labour all matter to God. They are the raw materials of our ministry and our part in God’s kingdom and creation.

To register your attendance and to assist catering facilitation please contact: Epiphany House (01872 27249)

Each session will cost £3 for refreshments. Those attending all 12 will include a year’s subsidised membership to CHRISM (CHRistians In Secular Ministry) whose mission is:

“To help ourselves and others celebrate the presence of God and the holiness of life in our work,
and to see and tell the Christian story there.”
